In 1970, the International Festival of Monte Carlo Arts was created, chaired by Princess Grace. The idea behind the festival is to firstly vary the nature of the shows in the festival and secondly to satisfy the standing audience during the event. In 1981, it was decided that the International Festival of Arts- which was initially summer and winter-would be held in spring will: it takes place every year for two weeks from Easter Saturday.
The festival celebrates art, film, theatre, music and dance.
